We placed third in our last race of the day versus two mixed teams and another women's team.
This was a really fun venue for us. The rain stayed away for most of the day and we even saw some sunshine.
There's only so long we will wait for official results. We will update this later with times if they become available.
Looks like we're not the fastest women's team after all. We raced a few of the others in the last race and came in third in a close one. Another race in a couple of hours!
Well, that was exciting! We're now off the water after first race of the season. Well, first and second. Due to a collision (not our fault, we were in the middle) with two other boats about halfway through, we had to turn around and rerace. We were racing three other mixed teams, so our time was the slowest of the heat, but overall it looks like we have the fastest women's time of the morning. We'll be racing again shortly, probably within the hour.
The Oregon Women Lawyers Dragonflies begin our 2014 race season this Saturday, April 26, at the St. Martin's University Dragon Boat Festival in Olympia, Washington. Twenty-three team members, including several new paddlers, will be competing in the one-day festival. Forty-two teams from all over the Northwest will be attendance.
Our first race is at 11:15am and we will be posting live updates throughout the day here.
