The OWLS Dragonflies will race this weekend in the Portland Rose Festival Dragon Boat Race held on June 9 and 10 at Tom McCall Waterfront Park. WHAT: The Portland Rose Festival Dragon Boat Race is unique in that each team’s flag catcher is required to pull the flag from a buoy in that team’s lane, which is what signals that the team has finished the race heat. WHEN: Saturday, June 9 Race times appear as scheduled. It is possible that the race will run ahead or behind schedule.
Specific race times on day 2 will be determined by the results on Saturday. Only qualifying teams from Semifinals will race in Finals.
WHERE: On the Willamette River located at Tom McCall Waterfront Park in downtown Portland, immediately South of the Hawthorne Bridge. There are several convenient parking garages off of SW 1st Avenue between Jefferson and Harrison. The ‘Flies have been assigned to Tent 44, which will be near the intersection of SW Naito and SW Columbia. If you are walking toward the river on Columbia, bear to your left as you enter Waterfront Park and look for our Dragonfly banner and purple jerseys.
